USA East Funds School Supplies in India

The USA Eastern Territory helped provide school supplies for children’s homes in the India Central Territory. While American children are enjoying summer break, India’s academic school year runs from June/July through March/April.

Major Tracy S. Hughes, Overseas Children Sponsorship Bureau Director, along with THQ Mission Engagement and the USA Eastern Territory, helped provide funding to buy school supplies, including notebooks, school bags, umbrellas, sports kits, and clothing for children in 12 Salvation Army children’s homes.

This activity has brought joy and happiness when the officers, staff, and children saw these gifts,” said Jeevan Roy Pitta, the territorial sponsorship coordinator. “For all of them this has brought real joy.”

Pitta especially thanked Hughes, who “felt the urgency of the needs, and who made all the efforts in finding resources” to support.

“We are thankful for her kind heart and she is always thinking about us and supporting us in every needs of the children and their homes. With her support, we have purchased and given to the institutions and for the children. We [are] really in need of this support and help every year. We give all glory to God and may God bless the leaders and donors.”
