Theresa Price | EPA Division

Theresa Price connected with The Salvation Army as a 7-year-old Sunbeam at the Philadelphia Germantown Corps. She then started attending other programs at the corps and eventually became a soldier. She’s currently a member of the Philadelphia Ray & Joan Kroc Center Corps, where she is active in the music programs and serves as the Young People’s Sergeant Major.

A 27-year employee, Theresa began as the office manager. When the opportunity to learn and take on social work at the corps came up, she took it. She felt such a connection to clients, and this, along with encouragement from a mentor, propelled Theresa to earn her master’s degree in social work. Now supervisor for the Kind Family Resource Center Department, Theresa loves that she’s able to help give a hand up to clients who are struggling or in need. Her experience includes the emergency food pantry, rental and utility assistance, Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance, fire-victim assistance, and overseeing the case manager for Pathway of Hope.

Theresa is an asset to the Kroc Center and to The Salvation Army in Philadelphia. Not only does she do a great job in serving clients, but she is also often sought for advice and help from other Salvation Army centers regarding social work. We are proud to have her as a part of the Philadelphia Kroc Center’s team.

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

—Psalm 82:3–4

March is Social Worker Appreciation Month. Social workers uplift, defend, and transform lives for people, families, and communities, and The Salvation Army is grateful for those who serve.
