Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Who We Are

At its heart, The Salvation Army is a church whose mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. We love God and serve others because we want others to come to know God’s love too.  Every program we offer is rooted in our passion for serving God by serving the lost, the vulnerable, the needy, the poor, the hurting, the helpless, and the hopeless.

Every day we help thousands of people throughout the Northeast. We offer hundreds of unique, local programs that are designed to meet specific local needs. While we offer a vast array of programs and services, everything we do can be condensed into 12 simple service categories.

HOPE – Stories of Survival

HOPE, is the first-ever Eastern Territory Salvation Army produced full-length documentary focusing on Stories of survival in the face of adversity. HOPE is about survivors of human trafficking who let us into their day-to-day lives after their trauma recovery and show us how they’re taking back control of their destinies through empowerment, love, trust and hope. It’s about survivors who guide us through some of their darkest memories of fear of exploitation and provide HOPE for others through their ability to overcome obstacles with the support and effort of those around them.

We want to bring awareness to the public about human trafficking, bring support to those who are being trafficked along with family and friends and we want to bring empowerment to the victims and survivors. Most of all we want to share a message of HOPE through the recovery process and let victims and survivors know that they are not alone.

Sunday wrap-up

Hershey, Pa., Sunday, June 12—By the final day of the Ordination and Commissioning 2022, it was clear that “Together in Perfect Unity” was much more than a slogan; it had become the mantra of the Messengers of Reconciliation session. They enthusiastically embraced their first appointments as Salvation Army officers [...]

Accord 2022

This Corps Mission Strategy Workshop is a historic moment for The Salvation Army. We are coming “Together With One Accord” to agree on what our key beliefs are, and how to reinforce those beliefs. I personally believe that the two most critical aspects of who we are as The Salvation Army is to be united in our identity, and united in our purpose. Who are we? Why do we exist? We are an army, [...]
