Honestly, what excites us most is seeing people’s lives change because of God’s love. Whether it’s kids learning about Jesus for the first time, teens finding a safe place to belong, or adults reconnecting with faith after years away — it’s incredible to watch. We love creating spaces where people feel like they’re part of something bigger than themselves.
One meaningful moment for us was when a member of the Muslim community, Mohammed — who had become a great friend — decided to come to a worship service. That day, he gave his life to Jesus. Walking alongside him in that journey and seeing how God worked in his heart is something we’ll never forget. Our lives are forever changed by him.
As Micah 6:8 reminds us, “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” This grounds us in the posture that we want to live out daily.
We wish people knew that pastors are just regular people too. We celebrate, we struggle, we need rest and encouragement just like anyone else. Ministry is amazing, but it can also be heavy at times. Ministry is deeply rewarding but also carries unseen burdens. We are reminded of the words of John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” This reminds us to stay connected to Jesus, because apart from Him, we can do nothing.
“We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
—1 Thessalonians 1:3
October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we’d like to thank our Salvation Army officers — pastors — for their faith, their dedication, and the hard work they do for their communities and the Lord.
