Our Holy Mission—in 2025 and Beyond
by Commissioner Ralph Bukiewicz
As 2025 begins to unfold, it is both timely and vital to reaffirm the importance of God’s Word as the bedrock of our Salvation Army mission. The emphasis for the upcoming year, “Our Holy Mission,” will resonate throughout all our territorial events and administrative decisions, underscoring the centrality of Scripture in our service and ministry.
The Scriptural Foundation of Our Mission
From its inception, The Salvation Army has been deeply rooted in the teachings of the Bible. Our Founder, William Booth, was driven by a profound conviction that the Word of God was the ultimate guide for the Army’s mission to serve the suffering and save the lost. This conviction remains unwavering today. The Bible is not merely a collection of historical texts; it is God’s living, breathing Word, offering guidance, inspiration, and authority in all aspects of our lives and ministry.
Guidance and Direction
Our Holy Mission calls for unwavering adherence to biblical principles. Scripture provides clear guidance on how to live, serve, and lead. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; / in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (NIV / EHV). By aligning our decisions and actions with God’s Word, we ensure that our mission remains true to His divine purpose.
Inspiration and Strength
God’s Word is a source of inspiration and strength for all Salvationists. In times of trial and tribulation, the Bible offers comfort and hope. Psalm 119:105 states, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (ESV). As we face the challenges of the modern world, let us draw strength from Scripture, knowing that God’s promises are eternal and His love unwavering.
Authority and Integrity
The authority of Scripture underpins the integrity of our mission. It is through the Bible that we understand God’s will and His call to serve humanity. 2 Timothy 3:16–17 declares, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” By upholding the authority of God’s Word, we maintain the highest standards of integrity in our mission.
Integrating Our Holy Mission in 2025
The emphasis on “Our Holy Mission” in 2025 will permeate every facet of our work. Territorial events will be designed to reflect our commitment to biblical principles, ensuring that every activity, from community outreach to administrative decisions, aligns with Scripture. Training programs and Bible studies will reinforce the importance of God’s Word, equipping Salvationists with the knowledge and skills to serve effectively.
Administrative decisions will be guided by prayerful consideration of biblical teachings, ensuring our policies and strategies are rooted in God’s will. Leaders at all levels will be encouraged to immerse themselves in Scripture, seeking divine wisdom and guidance in their roles.
As we embark on this journey in 2025, let us stand on God’s Word as the foundation of our Salvation Army mission. By embracing “Our Holy Mission,” we reaffirm our commitment to Scripture and its transformative power. Together, let us strive to live out the teachings of the Bible, serving with love, compassion, and integrity and making a profound impact on the world for the glory of God.
