The Breath of Lent – Resource

Breath prayers are a modern adaptation of the ancient prayer of the heart, which Christians have practiced for centuries. Breath prayers are a combination of two simple statements, a short one-sentence prayer based on scripture, and said in alignment with the rhythm of breathing.

The scripture verse “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) seems an impossible task, but with some forethought in the construction of a breath prayer, it can be uttered throughout the day to live out the essence of that scripture.

“…We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” Col. 1:9-10

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.”

“When we have exhausted our store of endurance…
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.”

Rhythms Series

We were created with an innate need for rhythm- the rhythm of word and silence, community and solitude, work and rest. Learning our tailor-made boundaries and margins, despite our most passionate desire to meet deadlines, keep promises, and accomplish projects, cannot go 24/7. We were made to step back, re-collect ourselves, and tune into what God is saying to us through our bodies and souls.

When you post your prayer requests we will go to the throne of God in prayer. Is God calling you to pray for others?

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down.” Philippians 4:6-7 (The Message)

We would love to pray for you! Please let us know how we can pray for your needs.
