Greater New York @ OOB

 Youth Band

The Greater New York Youth Band was formed in 1960 and has ministered all across the United States and around the world including Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, Holland, Spain and Italy. The GNY Youth Band is a wonderful tradition that has provided musical training and spiritual enrichment for hundreds of young musicians. Most of the members are Salvationists in either high school or college with a few who are independently employed.

The group has been the training ground for notable musicians including former principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, Philip Smith and former staff arranger for the US Marine Band, Stephen Bulla.

The band has been conducted by Derek Smith and Terry Camsey and at present is conducted by Gordon Ward and Christopher Ward.

Youth Chorus

The Greater New York Youth Chorus was formed in just 2005 with 26 singers. In its second season the numbers increased to 39 singers. The group has travelled alongside the GNY Youth Band all over the USA and to Canada, Argentina, Spain and Italy.

The chorus is conducted by Gavin Whitehouse with Lily Finikin as the piano accompanist.

The Greater New York Creative Arts forces consist of the Divisional Dance Team, under the leadership of Judith Nicolas and Nicole Alvarez; the Divisional Timbrels Brigade, under the leadership of Romina Morton and Annabel Concha; and the Divisional D’Art Team, under the leadership of Pablo Fernandez.
