Right around the corner from Times Square, this original folk musical is in final rehearsals before curtain-up on Dec. 14. The Unusual Tale of Mary and Joseph’s Baby opens next week!
A collection of local students, The Glory Shop attendants and members of the Times Square Corps congregation; each of the cast participates as a volunteer. Director Christopher Monroe describes the donation of skills like a ‘Talent Thrift Store’. Talents are freely contributed to the show (produced by The Salvation Army), the same way someone might donate their furniture to an SA Thrift Store.
Unusual Tale is only in the beginning stages of its life. Debuting at the Fringe Festival earlier this year, writers Don Chaffer and Chris Craigin-Day continue to workshop this budding script. A recent re-write opens this Dec. 8th in Knoxville, TN.
Rehearsals have been in progress since October, the cast meeting twice a week to learn music, blocking and choreography for this Theatre 315 production. Now, in the final stages before opening to the public, finishing touches are being set.
Performances take place from Wed. Dec. 14, 2016 – Saturday. Dec. 17, 2016 at 7pm, with one matinee on the 17th at 2pm.
