FATHERHOOD: Whose eyes are upon you?

Whose eyes are upon you?

1Kings1:20…THE EYES OF ALL…ARE UPON YOU TO TELL THEM…

Bathsheba in the midst of a potential life or death situation tells David, “My lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to learn from you who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.”  The struggle was life or death because if David did not keep his word to Bathsheba, she and their son Solomon could have suffered greatly, even death, at the hands of the next king!

King David, the man after God’s own heart said “I will surely carry out this very day what I swore to you by the Lord…”  After David’s proclamation of faithfulness and his quick action we see Bathsheba responding with adoration and acclamation.  “Then Bathsheba bowed down with her face to the ground, prostrating herself before the king, and said, “May my lord King David live forever!””

What does your life say about Jesus? Eyes are always watching…

Fathers, we are being watched attentively.  As you honor God you also bless your children.

We are in a struggle that is even greater than life or death.  Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but it is for our minds and the minds of our loved ones.  When once we have entrusted God for the salvation that He has provided in Jesus the battle of the mind continues.  We have the call from God to not grow weary, to run the race, to not forget, to always remember.  But we can take heart, God will complete what He has started.

When we as fathers take our responsibilities seriously before the Lord and respond proactively then we can be sure that our families will feel secure.  We can be sure that not only will our wives and children feel secure but our own minds will be at peace for so the 16th chapter and 3rd Proverb says: “Commit your works unto the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established.”
