Booth Youth

Meet the East Youth team!

What is East Youth?

East Youth has a unique mission: to strive to inspire a generation of youth within The Salvation Army’s eastern territory to live for what matters most. This website will serve to equip that generation with resources, articles, links, programs, and events so that more can come to know Jesus.

We also strive to be a resource for the Eastern territory at the local level, with resources for all youth programs at the corps and divisional levels.

We are passionate about making a lasting impact on the spiritual journey of our youth. It is our hope that through this site, a new generation of leaders will be trained and inspired to serve the kingdom.

Meet the Team!

Captain Jason Knaggs

Territorial Youth Secretary

Captain Jason Knaggs is married to Leslie and has three great kids – Jake, Lily, and Jaden. He has grown up in The Salvation Army and been in youth work for over 15 years.  Jay loves camp and the fun and smells that come from learning God’s word and making friendships.  Some of Jay’s longest and most meaningful relationships have come from camp – especially his wife Leslie. Jay’s mission is to declare the love of Jesus, encourage people every day, care for his family, and live life to the fullest. One of his favorite quotes is from Howard Thurman… “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Captain Leslie Knaggs

Assistant Territorial Youth Secretary

Hey Friends!  This is Captain Leslie Knaggs.  Leslie loves Jesus and has a heart for others to meet Him too!  Leslie is married to Jay and together they have three awesomely-crazy kiddos – Jake, Lily and Jaden.  Leslie is a Philadelphia Eagles’ super fan and a Philadelphia 76er’s enthusiast.  When not watching games she enjoys spending time with the family – playing Yahtzee, watching family movies or cheering for her kids on the sidelines of their games.  Her favorite snack is probably chips and guacamole though warm chocolate chip cookies are a close second.

Rachael Boynton

Administrative Assistant

Hello! My name is Rachael with an “a”, and I handle all things administrative in the youth department! I’m in charge of scheduling, day-to-day operations and the details that make territorial youth events the absolute best. I get to support the amazing team that makes it all happen!  In my free time I enjoy watching Disney+, spending time with my family, cooking, naps, and prayer. I live in Yonkers NY with my husband Andrew, am a soldier of the White Plains NY corps, and am a 6thgen Salvationist.

Brittany Parks

Children’s Ministries Outreach Coordinator

I love the Lord and I strive to walk in kindness; I enjoy encouraging and loving on people. Laughing, naps and chips and salsa are my favorite pastimes. If I’m not doing any of the previous, I’m probably hiking a trail somewhere or playing my guitar worshiping. If you want to experience firsthand what a nerd I am, ask me about woodworking or anything to do with (but not limited to) building or music. My friends call me MacGyver because I can fix anything. I’m passionate about Troops Ministry and I want to empower and support our territory with all that I can. I’m a believer in getting our youth outside to experience our creator in amazing new ways. Join me!

I provide administrative support to the Associate Territorial Youth Secretary for the following programs: Corps Cadets, Sunday School, and Bible Bowl. I am excited to be a part of the Youth Department team! Outside of work, I love to travel and dabble in photography! I love being physically active through outdoor sports (tennis, anyone?) and am also a Zumba Instructor! I enjoy good food, good coffee, and good conversation.

Daniel Wajda

Marketing & Social Media Specialist

Hey everyone! I’m Dan and I handle all the marketing and social media for the Youth Department. Outside of my job, I have a ton of interests that keep me busy. I grew up and went to school in the Northeast and love all things outdoors, especially hiking. I am currently in the midst of hiking all 46 Adirondack High Peaks. I love to watch and play sports and am a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan. Beyond all that, music is also a huge part of my life and I grew up playing cornet in The Salvation Army. I love traveling to new places and meeting new people, and strongly enjoy eating Mac and cheese.
