What does it take to be a member of Company?
-Technical and performance experience in dance. All our dancers have had extensive training in many forms of dance and theatre arts.
-Work ethic and physical stamina! Leading up to an event, we rehearse from early in the morning, to late at night.
– A willingness to try new forms of dance. We are always exploring diverse means of communicating a message. We’ve utilized circus arts, spoken word, devised theatre and illusions in our first season alone!
-Some flexibility with your schedule. We have one rehearsal weekend in the fall, then only practice together the few days leading up to an event. The average schedule leading up to a performance weekend looks like this: Wednesday – travel day. Thursday/Friday – rehearsal days. Saturday – rehearsal and performance. Sunday – performance and travel home.
*Note- You do NOT need to be available for every performance engagement to be a member of Company.
A person who wishes to become a member of the Army on Its Toes Dance Company must be an active soldier in a corps and at least 18 years of age. After making it through preliminary auditions, their participation will be approved by their corps, division and territory.
Kathryn Higgins (Dance Ministries Specialist) serves as the Company Director, with guidance from Carol Jaudes (Territorial Creative Arts Director). Evelyn Stickland serves as the Company Manager.
When traveling to rehearsals and engagements, mileage and toll reimbursement is available. All meals and lodging are provided during rehearsals and engagements. All Company members are volunteers.
